How verification works

Whatwecheck*,whatyoureceive.

CeylonTrade is a verification layer between international buyers and Sri Lankan exporters. Every badge on a storefront maps to a specific document we've confirmed with the issuing body — and a specific commitment to you.

  • Verified exporters
  • Audited certificates
  • Document-checked
  • Inspected lots
  • Direct-from-exporter

Verified exporters

Verified exporters

Every seller is hand-audited before their storefront is published. We work from source documents issued by Sri Lankan authorities — not self-declarations.

What we check
  • Business registration confirmed with the Department of the Registrar of Companies
  • Export licence checked against the Sri Lanka Export Development Board register
  • Beneficial ownership and signatory identity cross-checked with company filings
  • Physical facility address and factory location confirmed
What buyers receive
  • A named exporter — company, contact and role — on every storefront
  • Verified-exporter badge with the date of the most recent re-check
  • A public trust record you can cite in your own supplier onboarding
02
Audited certificates

Audited certificates

Certification claims are only shown when the underlying certificate is confirmed with the issuing scheme and is in-date. Expired or unverifiable claims are removed from the storefront.

What we check
  • USDA NOP, EU Organic and JAS organic certificates confirmed with the certifier
  • Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade credentials verified against the scheme registry
  • HACCP, ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000 food-safety scope and validity confirmed
  • Scope check — the certificate actually covers the products listed for sale
What buyers receive
  • Downloadable copy of the current certificate on request
  • Expiry date and issuing body shown alongside every claim
  • Automatic removal of the badge if a certificate lapses at renewal
03
Document-checked

Document-checked

Export paperwork is verified before shipment so goods clear on arrival. Documents travel with the container and are shared with you directly.

What we check
  • Phytosanitary certificate issued by the National Plant Quarantine Service
  • Certificate of Origin issued by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce or EDB
  • Commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading matched against the PO
  • Country-specific paperwork — SASO, FDA prior notice, EU TRACES — where required
What buyers receive
  • Full document pack delivered on shipment, not on arrival
  • Consistent Incoterms (typically FOB Colombo or CIF) on every quote
  • A single point of contact if a customs authority queries a document
04
Inspected lots

Inspected lots

Sourcing is sample-first. Every bulk order is tied to a specific lot that you or an independent lab can inspect before the container leaves Colombo.

What we check
  • Paid production sample drawn from the same lot as the bulk shipment
  • Third-party lab reports on request — pesticide residue, aflatoxin, moisture, ash
  • Pre-shipment inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas or Intertek on request
  • Lot number, harvest window and estate/farm named on the packing list
What buyers receive
  • Approve the sample in your own lab before you commit to bulk
  • Right to reject a shipment that does not match the approved sample
  • Lot traceability from container back to the named estate or farm

Direct-from-exporter

Direct-from-exporter

You message and negotiate directly with the producer. CeylonTrade does not sit in the middle of the commercial deal, mark up prices, or re-brand the goods.

What we check
  • Every storefront is operated by the actual exporter — no resellers, no brokers
  • Pricing, MOQ and lead time come from the producer, not a middle layer
  • Inquiry threads are between you and the exporter, with a full audit trail
What buyers receive
  • One relationship — buyer to producer — for pricing, quality and claims
  • No hidden markup between the storefront price and the invoice
  • Optional escrowed milestone payments handled by CeylonTrade for security
Scope

What verification does not replace.

Verification confirms that the exporter, the paperwork and the lot are what they claim to be. It does not replace your own quality assurance, your import compliance review, or the commercial terms you agree with the producer.

We recommend every buyer approves a paid sample in their own lab, agrees Incoterms and payment terms in writing, and — for first orders — uses CeylonTrade's escrowed milestone payments. Verification is the floor, not the ceiling.
